As a reminder to everyone interested in attracting wildlife to thier backyards, we have set this page up as a monthly, seasonal or even weekly reminder to take care of those "mother nature.....honey do's". Check back frequently to see what should be on your "to do" list :

March - November: Make sure all of your nectar feeders are out for the hummingbirds. In hot weather, clean the feeders every week and refill the nectar every few days or as needed.

November- March: Maintain at least one feeder for winter, migrating hummers such as the Roufus. For more information see the information below:

Late October to November through March- Start putting out store bought suet or homemade marvel meal for our feathered friends. As the nights grow colder, birds need more protein from animal fat sources. They use this "food" to stay warm at night. Commercial suet cages or logs are available, but its easy to "do it your self"

Marvel Meal

1 cup smooth peanut butter
1 cup of Lard
1 cup of white flour
3 cups of yellow corn meal (not self rising)
Mix the ingredients together until it resembles cookie dough

Place the mixture on a stick and hang it from a tree, or smear it on the tree trunk itself.....easy stuff.

We like to call this stuff "bird candy"
