Ruth Kimbrough, Moss Point painter, now showing in the Fine Art Gallery

Ruth Kimbrough's watercolor and acrylic paintings are inspired by the natural world of Mississippi's Gulf Coast.

Kimbrough prefers water media for her work because elements transparency, luminosity, and flowing colors are important features. She says that, "The viewer should feel light, air and space in the painting, almost as if it could breathe.  Natural marks and letting the painting processhappen without covering up all of the "evidence" are my working method."

Kimbrough's solo show will be open for viewing through the end of March 2017, during typical Center hours and when the gallery space is not rented out for an event.

Of her own work, Kimbrough says, " I like for a painting to surprise me."
