All the information you need to plan your visit

Located in downtown Moss Point, Mississippi, the Pascagoula River Audubon Center offers nature-based experiences on scenic bayou walkways & observation decks, a nature play garden, interactive exhibits, aquaria, excellent birding, meeting/event rental spaces, and programming for all ages. Kayak rentals are available with access to Rhodes Bayou, which drains into the Escatawpa and Pascagoula Rivers. The ten-acre center is located on property that was once part of a trolley line that carried lumber, mail, and even passengers from Moss Point to the coastline of Pascagoula, almost 10 miles away.

The grounds and exhibits focus on the unique ecosystem that is the Pascagoula River watershed, with native animals on display indoors and a native plant botanical garden surrounding the building. We model best practices for storm water management on our grounds, where we utilize structures such as rain barrels and cisterns, and permeable gravel-pave parking and driving surfaces. Indoors, a fine art gallery showcases individual artist or community exhibits that typically rotate every two months.Along with a focus on connecting to the local watershed, the site demonstrates the techniques of designing Bird Friendly Communities with the planting of native plants, removal of invasive species, structures for wildlife, and anti-bird strike material on our building windows. We hope to inspire others to make positive changes for wildlife in their own backyards.

In the main building, there are 9 aquaria with live creatures that call the bayou home, a fine art gallery, indoor exhibits, and the Hidden Heron Gift Shop that offers a diverse selection of books, home items and decor, ornaments, kitchen items, apparel, and artwork created by locals.
